How to Track a Cell Phone Position in Mexico

1. Select a mobile GPS program. These will allow you to track the cell phone in Mexico and most other countries in the world, provided that the phone is able to get a cell phone signal. A few programs that you can download include Google Latitude, Mologogo, and Instamapper. As of September 2010 these are free to download and use.
2. Install the program by going to the site of the software that you have decided to use. Some sites will require you to register by providing a user name, password and cell phone number. Google only requires that you provide a cell phone number and country. You will be provided with a link. Open up your mobile browser and follow the link and download the program. Follow the instructions to install it on your mobile phone.
3. Go to the 'Main Menu' of the cell phone and go to 'Applications.' Start the program that you installed earlier. This will begin transmitting your location to the servers of the application, giving the position of the cell phone.
4. Go to your computer, or any other device that can access the Internet, and open up the web browser. Log in to the site where you registered for your software. You will see your phone denoted as a blinking dot on a map. You can now track the cell phone in Mexico and any other place in the world where it can receive a signal.

About Safelink
Safelink Wireless is a United States government-funded cell phone program that offers free cell phones and airtime to applicants who meet specific low income guidelines. The program, up to the time of publishing, is offered in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, DC, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The type of phone and amount of minutes you're offered depends on the state of residence.
How to Qualify
Applicants for a Safelink Wireless phone qualify if they meet the following guidelines -- are already receiving state or federal assistance, such as public housing, Medicaid and food stamps; have a total household income that is at or below the national and/or state poverty level; and if no one else in the household is currently receiving Safelink service. You must also have a valid United States street address that accepts mail from the United States Post Office; you cannot have a Safelink phone sent to a post office box.
Applying for a Safelink Phone
To apply, go to Safelinkwireless.com and apply for the Lifeline program. You will need to enter your name, address, email address and home phone number. Your social security number will also be required so Safelink can cross reference whether you are receiving state benefits based on your income level. Once your application has been approved, you can expect to receive your Safelink Wireless phone within five to 10 business days via US registered mail.
Features
There are three service plans to choose from. All three plans include the following services and features: local calls, nationwide long distance, nationwide text, voice mail, free roaming and 411 directory assistance. Your choice of monthly minutes includes 68 minutes, 125 minutes and 250 minutes. If you choose to receive 68 minutes per month, texts are 0.3 minutes per text; you'll also get free international calling to over 100 locations, as well as monthly carryover of unused minutes. If you choose the 125 minutes per month plan, monthly minutes also carry over. With the 250 minutes per month plan, there are no carryover minutes.

How to Assume a Business Phone Number

1. Check with a RespOrg, which, according to the FCC, is an entity that has access to the SMS/800 database if you want to assume a toll-free vanity number. (A RespOrg may or may not be a phone company.) Ask if the toll-free vanity number you want to assume is in use. (See Reference 1.) Visit the SMS/800 website or call the SMS/800 Help Desk at 1-888-SMS-3300. (See Resource 1.) Call your local phone service providers to see if the number you want is available if you do not want a toll-free number.
2. Keep checking with the RespOrg or with your local phone companies from time to time if the business phone number you want is still in use. Businesses may drop various phone numbers and take on new ones, go out of business, merge with other companies, or myriad other things may happen during the times between which you check if the number you want is available.
3. Read the news about the company whose phone number you want for your business. Check the company's website to see if the customer service number or other number it has that you want has changed recently.
4. Ask the customer service representative to reserve the number for your business if the number you want is available. Sign-up for the phone number, and assume it for your business' use.

2. Download a free PC telephone service. Google Voice provides you with a unique number that can be used to make and receive calls either from your cell or landline phone or through your Gmail account. Access google.com/voice and gmail.com to set up a new account. Once it's established, access your Gmail account and click 'Call Phone.' Enter the number of the landline phone you want to contact and click the green call button.
3. Purchase a telephone adapter service like MagicJack (approximately $39 as of April 2011). You'll be able to make unlimited calls to landline phones from your PC. Connect the MagicJack to an available USB port of your computer and then connect your landline phone line. Make a call on the phone like your normally would.
