How to Change a Cell Number With ATT
1. Visit AT&T's wireless website. Click 'Register' next to 'Log in' if you do not already own an AT&T online account. Click 'Register' under 'Wireless.' Enter your wireless phone number, and follow the on-screen guide to finish creating your account.
2. Click 'My Account' on the AT&T wireless homepage. Click 'Log in' under 'Wireless.' Enter your account information to view your main account page.
3. Click 'My Services' and 'Phone.' Select 'Wireless Number Change.' A new screen will appear.
4. Type in your ZIP code in the 'ZIP Code' text box. Click the 'Next' button. A list of available cell phone numbers will appear.
5. Scroll through the entire list of numbers. Click the white circle next to the number you wish to use as your primary cell phone number. If a green dot does not appear in the white circle, click the circle again.
6. Click 'Submit' at the bottom of the page. As long as there were no errors, a new screen will pop up and inform you that your number change was successful. In rare cases, someone may have chosen the same number a few seconds earlier. You will be asked to select another number if that occurs.
7. Send a mass text message to all of your contacts informing them of your number change, if you have an unlimited text plan. Otherwise, email them.

1. Visit the SMS/800 system's website and click the 'Service Provider Search' link on the home page. A page with a search box and a list of authorized toll-free number providers will appear. Enter the name of a phone company you are familiar with to see if it provides toll-free numbers or search the list for five or six providers so you can compare prices and service.
2. Call or visit the sites of the service providers you are considering to find the right price and service package for your budget and needs.
3. Follow the instructions given to you on your service provider's website or by your provider's sales representative over the phone regarding payment. Enter your credit card number, billing address and present phone number on your chosen provider's site, or provide it to your sales representative.
4. Wait for online or verbal confirmation of payment along with your new toll-free number. Test it as soon as it is confirmed by calling it with your mobile phone or another home or business phone number. You may not be able to test it with the number to which it connects.
