How to Unlock A Verizon Cell Phone For Free
1. First you will need to get a Verizon Inpulse phone that you want to unlock. These can be bought at most retail stores in your area. They are as cheap as $19, and go up to over a hundred dollars.
2. Open the phone and locate the serial number on the phone. You will need this to unlock and activate the phone. Go to www.verizonwireless.com. Select 'support' at the top of the screen and select 'phones and devices'.
3. On the left hand side of the page, under 'Phone actions' click on 'Activate phone'. You will then need to sign in your account to input the serial number. If you have trouble with this online, simply call Verizon and tell them you just got your new phone and want to activate it on your contract. Do not tell them it is a prepaid phone or that you want to 'unlock it'. They will refuse to activate it. If you already have a prepaid Inpulse phone that has been activated, you will have to wait 6 months before you can unlock it and switch it to a contract phone. You will also have to pay the activation fee for the phone, which is still beats paying $300 for a new phone.

Sites such as Covert Calling, SpoofTel, TeleSpoof and TraceBust all enable you to place a call and choose the number you want to appear on the other person's phone display screen (links in Resources). While the sites do charge for their services, you can create a trial account or make a test call free.

3. Enter the number of the person you want to call in the 'Your Friend's Number,' 'Destination Number' or other similarly named field.
