How to Send an ISD SMS

1. Review the phone number you would like to send a SMS. If you notice a '+' symbol at the beginning of the phone number, then you already have the country code. For example, the phone number of a friend from South Korea would look like '+8286999999' if the country code were already included.
2. Look up the country code for the phone number you would like to send your text message, if the country code is not included. Use a website such as 'Study Abroad' to locate the proper country code. For example, the phone number of a friend in South Korea may look like '086999999,' before you have the country code. South Korea's country code is '82' therefore, to send a text message to a friend in South Korea, the correct format for the phone number would look like '+8286999999.' If the phone number starts with a '0,' do not include it; the country code will replace the '0.'
3. Key in the phone number you wish to message, including the '+' symbol and the country code, into your cell phone.
4. Type in your message and then send the SMS.
