How to Find Free Software for a Smart Phone

1.
Purchase a memory card that is compatible with your particular brand of smartphone. The memory card will allow you to store files that are too large for your smartphone’s built in memory. Since games and other software tools will take up a tremendous amount of space on your smartphone’s internal memory, the memory card will provide you the luxury of not having to worry about running out of space. Most smart phones will have an opening on the outside of the unit to accommodate the memory card; others have this compartment hidden away under the battery.
2. Purchase a data cable for your phone. In order for you to transfer the free software files to your smartphone and storage card, you will need to use a data cable. The data cable plugs into your computer’s USB outlet with one end and connects to your smartphone with the other. The computer will identify that another storage device has been connected, and from there you can transfer the files. The data cable will also work in reverse to transfer files that are no longer necessary to your phone, back to your PC.
3. Search the web for free software by using the keywords 'Smartphone + free + software.' There are several websites that offer free software for your smartphone. These can be downloaded to your home computer and then transferred to your phone for later execution. Websites such as 'Smartphone Freeware' offer an abundant amount of free software for the smartphone and pocket pc compatible phone.
4. Locate the software that you would like to download from the desired website, and download it to your computer. The software file itself will have to be executed on the smartphone itself, so don’t open the file on the computer prior to transferring it to your smartphone using the data cable. Be sure to download the file to a folder on your computer that is easily accessible.
5. Transfer the free smartphone software using the data cable. Plug the data cable into your computer, and attach it to your smartphone. Allow the computer time to identify your device and then proceed with the transfer.
6. Execute the file on your smartphone. Once the free software title has been transferred to your phone, check your smartphone’s memory card for the program. Open the file and save it on your phone. The software should then create an icon in your smartphone’s program file to use it when you are ready.
