Send a Text Message to Canada
1. Call your mobile phone provider directly in regards to your international text-messaging rates (as this amount varies by company). Additionally, check past cell phone billing statements to verify if you have international text messaging or calling. Some phone bills may list international rates and charges directly on the bill itself.
2. Send a text message to the person in Canada by entering '011' before the Canadian phone number, as this is the international dialing out code required to send a message or call a number outside of the U.S.
3. Enter in the message you would like to send and submit the SMS message. Your international text message amount will be available to view on your next mobile phone bill.
Using an Online Service
4. Open your computer's Internet browser (such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer) and visit a well-known phone service website for international text messaging. Various international text-messaging services allow you to prepay for international messages while also obtaining an official account, while other services feature free international text messaging without the ability to store or save messages. Some popular text-messaging websites include IPIPI (ipipi.com), TXT 4 Free (txt4free.net) and TXT Drop (txtdrop.net).
5. Choose the text-messaging service website you would like to send your text from, whether a free service or a prepaid international service.
6. Enter in the entire Canadian phone number you would like to text on the international text-messaging service website, along with the actual text message you intend to send. Some companies allow you to enter an 'alias' or name to appear when the text message is received, if you would like the receiver to know the sender. 4. Accept the charges when your loved one calls.
5. Set up an account directly with the jail phone service and find out how to buy a calling card from them for the inmate. Companies such as Global Tel Link offer personal accounts and will send you a separate bill for phone service (see Reference 1).
6. Prepay for services if the above options do not work. Companies such as Cheap Jail Calls allow you to buy a calling card directly from them, which routes your cell phone number to a land line first and then to your cell phone (see Reference 2).

How to Find Out Who is Calling You Using a Cell Phone Look Up

1. There are sites that offer you a search where you can take the number of the person who was calling you and enter it into the search. Next you will be given the information of the person who called you and there address in most cases.
2. This can be valuable information because we have all received phone calls from numbers we do not recognize and not answered it. It can be a problem if you are waiting for an important phone call and you miss it because you do not recognize the number.
3. Now it is easier for you to get the identity information that you need so you know what calls you missed. It would seem easier if you just answered all the phone calls you receive but there are a lot of people that want to sell you something and you are better off not answering those calls.
4. Remember that you can benefit by using a reverse cell phone look up because it will give you the identity of the number who called you. This can help you not to miss any important calls and will make your life easier so that you do not have to take sells calls either.

How to Get a New Phone Without Renewing a Contract

1. Contact your current provider. Tell them you would like a new model of phone but don't want to tied to a new contract. The provider will generally try to keep your business and might offer you an reasonable deal, including a new phone.
2. Look at the range of cell phones available in retail outlets. Consider the cost of purchasing a new phone from a retail outlet, compared to what your provider is offering.
3. Check the warranty on your phone. If the warranty is still valid and your phone is faulty, then you should be able to get a new phone by using the warranty.
4. Review your homeowner's insurance policy. Many insurance companies pay out on personal effects, so a claim could be made for a defective cell phone using your homeowner's insurance.
5. Contact your provider and tell them that you have found a phone that you like with another provider and that the monthly rate is cheaper. Request an upgrade on the premise of moving to the new provider if your current provider won't meet your request. Ask your provider to send you the code that will be needed to activate your existing number on the new provider's tariff, which could further encourage your current provider to offer what you are seeking.
