How to Send Free Text Messages Over the Internet
1. Find a site that allows you to send text messages. A few that you can use include TxtDrop, and TextForFree. (See references below.)
2. Type in the phone number of the person receiving the message into the required field. Enter the subject of the text message and type your message out. Some of the websites also require you to input your e-mail address.
3. Choose the receiver's cell phone carrier and click 'Send Free Text Message.' Keep in mind that the receiver will not be able to reply directly to your text message.
How to Send an SMS to Hong Kong
Cell Phone
1. From your cell phone, select the photo, audio or video file you want to send to the recipient. Click on the 'Options' menu or equivalent to start a new picture or multimedia message. The file should be automatically attached to the message. If your chosen file does not attach, try starting a new message and then attaching the file. Exact procedure will vary by phone model.
2. In the 'To:' or address field of your new message, type the digits 011 852--the international dial code and country code, respectively, for dialing Hong Kong--followed by either an eight- or 11-digit phone number.
3. Add a text message or caption describing the attached file, then send your message. Character limits--including spaces--for messages that with photo, video, or music files will vary by phone model. Most have a 1,000-character limit, though some may have more and others less. When you pull up a new message with your photo, video, or music file attached, the maximum number of allowed characters should show up in the upper left or right corner of your new message screen.

4. If you have a Skype account, sign in. If you do not have one, you will need to download the software and create a Skype name and password. After you have signed in, pull down the 'Tools' menu and select 'Send SMS Message.'
5. Type the Hong Kong phone number that you want to send your SMS message to, then click 'Add.' Type the phone number as you would if you were dialing the same number from your land line or cell phone: First type the international dial code (011) followed by the country code (852), and finally either an eight- or 11-digit phone number.
6. Type and send your message. You are allowed 160 total characters, which includes spaces for one single SMS. As you type your message, the number of remaining characters will be updated. If your message exceeds 160 characters, it will be sent in multiple parts of two or more messages. In these cases, additional charges will be applied. In addition to character limits, Skype also informs you of the fee per SMS message as you are typing so that you are well-informed prior to clicking 'Send.'
How to Download Ringtones to Verizon Cell Phones
1. Click the 'Get It Now' icon on your Verizon Wireless cell phone. Click 'Get Tones.'
2. Choose your desired ringtone application and pricing option. Click 'Download.' Click 'Yes' when the pop-up message asks you if you want to run the ringtone application.
3. Search the ringtone application for your desired download. Select the desired ringtone. Click 'Download' to download the ringtone and automatically save it to the phone's memory.

How to Send SMS Messages From PCs
From Your Wireless Provider's Website
1. Log into your wireless provider's website with your username and password. Your account page will load on the next screen.
2. Click on the 'Send Text Message' on your account page. A text message box will load on the next page.
3. Type the recipient's cell phone number and the SMS message in the allocated boxes. Click 'Send' when done. Another page will load confirming the SMS message was sent.
From Your E-mail Account
4. Log into your e-mail account. Click on 'Compose' or a similar icon depending upon your provider.
5. Type the recipient's cell phone number and wireless provider as the e-mail address. For example, if the recipient has Sprint, you would type 1234567890@messaging.sprintpcs.com. See the Resources section of this article for a list of wireless providers and the correct way to format the e-mail address.
6. Type the subject and the body of the e-mail in the designated areas. Send when complete.
How to Send Music to Your Cell Phone for Free With Myxer
1. Determine if your mobile phone supports Myxer's software. Myxer is compatible with most cell phone providers, such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and Cellular One. Phones that do not allow Myxer downloads sent to their phone include Nextel, Boost Mobile, Helio, Tracfone and Telus Mobility. In addition, some models of Audiovos, Kyocera, LG, Nokia, Pantech, Samsung, Sidekick and UTStarcom phones have disabled their downloaded ring tone features.
2. Visit http://www.myxer.com/make/ to upload the song you desire from your computer onto Myxer's website. Common song formats are accepted, such as MP3 and WMA.
3. Customize your media using Myxer's easy customization tool. This tool allows you to pick the section of the song you desire for your phone, up to 45 seconds. You can option to have your music clip fade in or out or not at all. If you want, you may skip this and Myxer will default to the clip of its choosing.
4. Send the file to your cell phone. Type in your mobile phone number and Myxer will send the customized music clip as a link in a text message or an attachment in a picture message to your phone depending on what your phone supports. If it is sent in a link, follow the link in your phone's Web browser to access it. If the music clip is sent in a picture message, merely save the attachment to your phone.
How to Send International SMS for Free
1. Find a web site that allows you to send international SMS for free. There are several that you can use. Some of these include Txt2Day, TxtDrop, and Mjoy. Click on the resource links below to visit the sites.
2. Register for the site if necessary. Not all sites will require registration. However, if the one that you choose does, you need to provide a user name, an email address and a password. You will also need to confirm you registration by clicking on the link in the email.
3. Go to the site and, if necessary, log in. Write the phone number that you are sending your SMS to into the first box. Choose the country where you are sending the text and if necessary select the mobile service provider. Type in your email address or mobile phone number if you want a reply.
4. Write the message in the space provided. Most of these sites only allow up to 140 characters. Type in the anti-spam security code, check the 'Agree to Terms of Service' box and click 'Send.' You will receive a confirmation that the message has been sent.
How to Make SMS Chat the Default
Set SMS Chat As Your Default Text Messaging Interface
1. Download and install Windows Mobile SMS Chat onto you phone if it is not already installed. This can be downloaded from the official Windows Mobile SMS Chat website (See Reference 1).
2. Download, install and open a Mobile Registry Editor application on your phone if one is not already installed. Mobile Registry Editor can be downloaded from various websites including Softonic and Softpedia.
3. Open the 'Start' menu in your phone's Windows Mobile interface and select 'Run' from the drop down menu.
4. Type 'Regedit' in to the text box provided and click 'OK.' Your phone's HKey Local Machine (HKLM) registry folder should open in a new window.
5. Open the 'Software' folder then open the subsequent 'Microsoft,' 'Shell' and 'Rai' folders.
6. Open the file 'MSINBOX' within the 'Rai' folder. You will see that the 'MSINBOX' file incorporates various codes and text.
7. Write '\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe' (including the speech marks) after the text 'Data:' which is under the 'Name: 1' section. This text will change your default SMS setting only if SMS Chat is installed in to the Program Files folder on your device. If it is saved in another folder, such as My Storage, you will need to write the specific location, i.e. '\My Storage\Program Files\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe' (including the speech marks).
8. Save and close the file. Next time you open your phone's SMS service the SMS Chat application should automatically open.
