How to Sync a Phone to a Tahoe
1. Verify your phone is capable of connecting to an auxiliary input. Most smart phones, including the iPhone, have the ability to connect to a vehicle via an auxiliary cable inserted into the auxiliary port. If you are unsure weather your phone has this ability, ask a cellular customer service representative or reference the owner's manual.
2. Verify your Tahoe has an auxiliary input. An auxiliary input is often marked as AUX and is located near the stereo controls. Not all Tahoes have an AUX input; whether the Tahoe has an AUX input is based on the year and trim level of the vehicle. If you are unsure whether your Tahoe has an AUX input ask a local dealer or reference the owner's manual .
3. Purchase an auxiliary cable. These are available at an electronics store, such as Best Buy or CompUSA, or retail stores like Wal-Mart or Target. Make sure to ask the sales staff to help you locate an auxiliary cable that is compatible with your particular phone. For example, an auxiliary cable for the iPhone may not work with a Driod or Blackberry.
4. Connect one end of the auxiliary cable into the phone and the other end into the AUX input of the Tahoe. Before the sound will work, press the button that says 'Connect Audio Jack', which will appear after the cable is inserted into the AUX input. The phone is now connected, or synced, to the Tahoe.
5. Listen to music or make hands-free phone calls. According to Griffin Technology, this connection will allow you to play your iPod, phone, or other music player through your car stereo speakers (Reference 1). You may also talk hands-free using the auxiliary sync. All calls will ring through the Tahoe's speakers and you can talk, much like a speaker phone.
