How to Send and Receive SMS by the Internet

1. Send and receive SMS messages over the Internet via an email client. People generally compose, send and receive email messages using a browser-based (Yahoo! Mail) or application-based (Microsoft Outlook) email client. An email address is made up of a user name and domain, such as 'YourName@EmailProvider.net.' To email a text message to a cell phone, users format the recipient's address in the same format, with the exception of the name: 'Recipient'sCellNumber@CellProvider.net.' This cell phone 'email' address is compatible with the 'TO' field in most email clients. After users compose the email and click the 'Send' button, the email service provider will forward the message to the cell phone, in the form of a text message. In turn, cell providers can usually return (Reply) the recipients message back to the email sender.
2. Leverage instant messenger technology to send and receive SMS messages. Instant messaging applications are usually included with the native operating system and are also available to download and install for free. Usually, both parties need to have the same or 'compatible' instant messenger program installed to send and receive messages. However, many major developers, such as Yahoo! and Windows Live, include SMS messaging functions in the list of menu options. After users input the recipient's cell phone number, they can then type a short message that will then be forwarded as a text message. The recipient can reply back to the same message and it will show up in the IM window.
3. Adapt existing Internet-capable applications to send and receive SMS messages. One purpose of Internet browsers, such as Firefox and Chrome, is to retrieve Web pages from websites. Internet connection managers support basic access to the Internet. However, for example, Verizon Wireless hosts a Web page that allows users to send text messages via the browser. AT&T Wireless's 'Communication Manager 9.0' application allows subscribers to send and receive text messages over the Internet.

How to Sync a Cell Phone With a Car Radio

1. Scroll through the menu on your cellphone and locate 'settings'. Select 'bluetooth' from the settings menu. Turn on the bluetooth function on your phone. You should see the bluetooth symbol displayed on your main screen, which is blue with two white sideways triangles and a sideways 'V'.
2. Depress the phone button on your car radio console to activate the phone feature. The car will notify you that no phone is connected and then ask if the radio can attempt to locate a phone. Press 'yes' or 'send' to locate your cell phone. The car radio will locate your phone and then offer a PIN number.
3. Select the 'devices' option under your bluetooth menu on your phone. Highlight the 'sync' device and select 'OK'. Input the pin number provided as a security measure. Your phone is now synced with your car and available for hands-free calling.
4. Choose 'yes' when the radio asks if you want to set this as your primary phone, unless you have already paired other phones that you intend to continue to use. The radio will prompt you to download your phone book. Select yes to allow for making phone calls using the names on your phone book rather than supplying the actual phone number.
5. Push the phone button on your radio console to initiate a phone call. When prompted by the radio, speak 'call' followed by a name exactly as it appears on your cell's phone book. Or to dial a number say 'dial' followed by the number you want to call including the area code. Make sure to speak slowly and over-enunciate to improve your accuracy with voice commands.
