How to Send Receive SMS on a PC
Using Gmail Chat
1. Go to the Gmail website (see 'Resources').
2. Register with Gmail by clicking the 'Create an Account' button.
3. Complete the registration form by providing your name, desired login name, password and other required details.
4. Sign in by using your username and password.
5. Click on the 'Settings' link after signing in, and go to the 'Labs' tab.
6. Look for the 'SMS in Chat gadget' and 'Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat' in the list. Enable both of them by selecting the 'Enable' button.
7. Scroll to the bottom of page and click the 'Save Changes' button.
8. Enter mobile phone number of the recipient in the text box under 'Send SMS' on the left pane and hit the 'Enter' key. Type in the contact name of the recipient, and select his country in the window that appears. Click the 'Save' button.
9. Type the text message in the chat window that appears and hit 'Enter' key to send the text message. You will see the recipient's reply in the same window.
Using TxtDrop
10. Go to the TxtDrop website (see 'Resources').
11. Fill the form you see on the homepage. Type in your email address, recipient's mobile phone number and the text message you wish to send. You have to provide your email address for receiving the replies the recipient will send.
12. Click the 'Send' button.
Using SendSMSNow
13. Go to the SendSMSNow website (see 'Resources').
14. Click on the 'Register' button in the left pane under 'New Members' heading. You need to register to start sending SMS.
15. Fill out the registration form by providing username, password, email address and other required details. You will receive the recipient's replies in your email.
16. Log in to the website by entering your username and password in the login form on the homepage. The login form is on the left pane under 'Members' heading.
17. Fill the send SMS form on the homepage. Select the recipient's country of residence and type in his mobile phone number. Provide your name to let the recipient know who has sent the SMS. Write the text message and click the 'Send SMS' button.
How to Convert Voice to Text on an iPhone
1. Access the App Store from your iPhone by clicking the blue 'App Store' icon on the first page of your home screen.
2. Locate the available dictation apps by clicking the 'Search' tab at the bottom of your screen and typing 'dictation' into the search bar. Your iPhone will provide you with a list of dictation apps, including free apps such as 'Dragon Dictation' and 'Vlingo,' as well as paid apps like 'Voxie Pro Recorder' and 'iPro Recorder.'
3. Click on each app to read its description, then decide which one suits you best.
4. Download your favorite dictation app by clicking the blue price box in the upper right corner of the app description page.
5. Exit the App Store by clicking the round 'home button' beneath your iPhone screen.
6. Open your new dictation app by tapping its icon. As the most recently downloaded app, it will be at the end of your apps list.
7. Tap the 'Record' button, usually designated by a red circle, to begin your dictation.
8. Begin speaking. Hold your iPhone a few inches away from your mouth and enunciate as clearly as possible.
9. Click the 'Done' or 'Finished' button when you want to stop. Your words will then appear as text on your screen.
10. Review your dictation and make sure that everything translated to text correctly. If some words need correcting, click on them and type the correct words in their place.
How to Create a Free Phone List
1. Use a search engine in your Internet browser to look up different websites that offer free phone list templates. Examples of such sites include fileguru.com, brothersoft.com, and lifehack.org.
2. Choose a template that you like and download it according to the instructions on the website.
3. Open the downloaded template and begin adding contacts to your free phone list. The template will allow you to create your list sorted by last name, first name, or even a particular group or category. Make any changes to the font that you'd like, including style or size.
4. Save the completed phone list to your computer. From here, you can print it out, update it at any time, or even create entirely new phone lists.

How to Send Free Text Messages With Images
1. Launch a web browser. Visit a website that allows you to send text messages with images. Examples of these sites include 'Text 4 Free,' 'Pix Drop' and 'Text 4 Free Online.'
2. Enter your contact's 10-digit mobile number. Do not include any dashes between the numbers.
3. Choose the contact's mobile carrier from the drop-down list. If you do not know the person's mobile carrier, leave it blank or choose 'Other.'
4. Compose a message. Verify that your message is 160 characters or less.
5. Click 'Choose File' to add a picture. Select a picture from your computer's hard drive. Click 'Upload' to upload the picture to the message.
6. Click 'Send' when satisfied. Your contact will receive the message within a few minutes.
How to Send Free SMS Internationally
Web Service
1. Launch your Web browser by double-clicking its icon on your desktop or by clicking 'Start,' and then highlighting and clicking the program name of your Web browser.
2. Visit a free SMS message site (see Resources) by typing the Web address of one of these sites into your browser's navigation bar.
3. Follow the instructions on each website. Some sites require you to register an account to use their services.
4. Enter the region or country of the recipient's phone number, then enter the recipient's mobile phone number and the carrier he or she uses for cell phone service. You may also need to enter a validation code, which prevents spamming.
5. Type your message into the text box provided. Press 'Send Message' to send the SMS to your contact's phone.
6. Launch your Web browser by double-clicking its icon on your desktop or by clicking 'Start,' and then highlighting and clicking the program name of your Web browser. Those using Microsoft Outlook should click 'Start,' and then highlight and click 'Outlook' to launch that email service.
7. Type the Web address of your email provider (for instance, Yahoo Mail or Google Mail) in the navigation bar. Log in to your account by entering your user name and password, and then pressing 'Enter.'
8. Click 'New' to compose a new email.
9. Enter the phone number and service provider extension of the recipient's phone in the 'Send To' box. For example, if the recipient uses Verizon, type the phone number followed by the '@' symbol and then 'vtext.com.' Don't put any spaces in between any of the digits, letters or symbols. The email address would look like this: '9995559999@vtext.com.' See Resources or a full list of the service providers extensions.
10. Type your message into the body of your email and click 'Send.' Please note SMS message length limits also apply to SMS messages sent via emails.
How to Track a Cell Phone on Google Earth
1. Go to Google's Latitude website, www.google.com/latitude, and log into your Google account.
2. Enter your cell phone number in the box that says, 'Enter your number or visit google.com/latitiude on your mobile browser.' Press the 'Send a link to my phone' button; you will receive a text message with a link to a website inviting the cell phone user to accept latitude.
3. Follow the link on your cell phone's web browser to go to Google's latitude website. Note that cell phone providers may charge additional fees for using mobile web; this will not work without mobile web. If you are tracking a friend's phone, they will also have to complete steps three and four.
4. Allow Google to use your current location. Select 'Yes' when the dialog box appears that says, 'Allow Google Latitude to view your current location.'
5. Follow the cell phone. An image displaying the cell phone location will appear on the Google Earth map for the computer that initiated the latitude request. As long as the cell phone remains connected to the latitude website, Google will follow the cell phone. Note that locations are only displayed if the cell phone users chose to share their location with their friends.
How to Unlock Your Sony Ericsson Phone for Free
1. Type *#06# on your cell phone. Jot down the number that appears on your cell phone screen called the IMEI number.
2. Call your network provider and ask it for the code to unlock your SIM card. Provide the employee with whom you speak with your IMEI code. This enables the company to send you the code to unlock your SIM card via email.
3. Remove your battery cover from the rear portion of your Sony Ericsson. Take out your SIM card. Put in a SIM that comes from a different cell phone company and put your battery cover back on.
4. Type in the SIM code you received via email and then click on 'OK' to complete the unlock process.
