How to Add Free Airtime to a Net10 Phone
1. Activate the cell phone at the Net10 website or call 1-877-836-2368. You will be prompted for your personal information and the serial number of your cell phone. The serial number is underneath the battery or on the 'How to Activate' card included with the phone.
2. Locate the PIN to add your free minutes. The PIN is on the back of your airtime card, beneath a silver strip. Carefully remove this strip by scraping the area gently with a coin.
3. To add minutes by phone, call 1-877-836-2368 and follow the prompts to enter your information.
4. To add minutes online at the Net10 website, select 'Add Airtime' from the menu bar, and follow the prompts. If you are a new user, you will need to enter your personal information when prompted prior to adding minutes.
5. To add minutes with your phone, make sure it is fully charged and that the charger is disconnected. Turn the phone on. Select the 'Prepaid' menu on the main screen, then choose the 'Add Airtime' option. Follow the prompts to enter the PIN from your card.
6. Leave your phone on until you receive a message on your display confirming that the airtime has been added to your account. This is normally received within five or 10 minutes.
7. From time to time, Net10 offers bonus minutes on refill cards. These minutes are added automatically when the cards are used to add airtime. Additional cards are added the same way as those included with the cell phone.
How to Use SMS for a Push Install
1. Push install items to your phone via Zedge website (see 'Resources'). Zedge offers an immense collection of phone themes, ringtones and more. Use the search bar to look for the item you want to send, for instance phone themes, ringtones, videos and more. After finding the appropriate item, simply click the 'Mobile Web' link to get the unique Zedge code for that item. Log on to your phone browser and visit 'm.zedge.net/zcode' link. Enter the unique code for the particular item you wnat to download. The file will then be push installed on your phone.
2. Push install songs via BeeMP3, a resource that offers to send MP3 tracks directly to your phone via SMS (see 'Resources'). Search for the song using the search bar and open the song link from the search results. Click 'Send to your Mobile' link to SMS the track directly to your phone. Accept the item on your phone to download it.
3. Push install GPRS settings on your phone. Contact your service provider's helpline and ask the company rep to send GPRS settings to your phone. Wait for the settings to reach your phone. You will be notified by an SMS alert when the settings arrive. Accept the settings to push install them on your phone. Some global network carriers also offer to send GPRS settings when the user sends a particular code in SMS to a specific number. For instance, Airtel offers to activate GPRS when you send 'MO' in SMS to '2567.'
How to Send a SMS From Unix
1. Go to your cell phone carrier's website and determine what your cell phone's email address is. It should be something similar to 'your phone number@yourcarrier.net.'
2. Type in 'ksh' at your Unix command line to switch to the Korn shell.
3. Type in:echo 'text-message' | mailx -s 'test'
@yourcarrier.(net/com)'Text-message' represents the words in the text message you want to send, 'test' represents the subject of the test message and the email address after the '@' symbol represents your cell phone's email address. Hit 'Enter' to send the SMS to your cell phone.
4. Incorporate the code into a script to automatically send yourself a text message while a program is running.
How to Send Free Multiple SMS Messages
1. Navigate to the Text4free website (see References).
2. Enter the mobile number of one of the recipients.
3. Click the drop-down list and select the cell phone provider for that mobile number.
4. Click 'Click to add another recipient,' then enter the next mobile number. Continue to click 'Click to add another recipient' until all the desired recipients have been added.
5. Enter your message in the 'Please enter your free text message' field.
6. Select the number of times you would like the message sent to each recipient in the 'Please enter the amount of text free messages' section.
7. Click 'Browse' to add a picture to the message if desired.
8. Enter 'Image' in the box provided.
9. Click 'Send Message(s)' to deliver the text message.

How to Send a Hindi SMS
1. Navigate to the Messages portion of your phone's main menu.
2. Enter the Options menu in your Messages section.
3. Press 'Off' for predictive text. This allows you to type each individual letter in whatever language you want, such as Hindi.
How to Retrieve Lost SMS Messages for Free
1. Search the Internet for free SMS message recovery software. Examples include SIM Manager, Recover Deleted SMS and Free Recovery (see Resources). Save the software file to your desktop.
2. Follow the instructions for installing the software. Restart your computer to complete the installation.
3. Attach the USB cable to your phone's input jack. Attach the other end to your desktop computer or laptop's USB port.
4. Click 'Start' and 'All Programs.' Double-click the SMS recovery software to launch it. You may also have a copy of the software on your desktop.
5. Select 'Scan' or 'Recover.' Wait for the software to search through your phone's SIM card for deleted messages.
6. Look through the list of messages recovered on the software. Click the message you want to retrieve. Select 'Restore' or 'Undelete' to retrieve the message and save it to your phone's inbox.
How to Download Free MetroPCS Ringtones
1. Check the availability of free MetroPCS ringtones from a number of websites. They aren't always easy to find, but MetroPCS users can sign up on the company website to receive automatic update messages on their phones when new ringtones are available. It is up to the phone customers to verify the ringtones are actually compatible with their phone units, but it may be worth the effort to be able to get free ringtones.
2. Take advantage of technology your phone and computer share. If both your phone and your computer have card readers (some phones do have small readers), you can save free files by clicking 'listen' to sample ringtones on the MetroPCS website. When you find the one you want, select 'Save As' and then save it to your computer. Transfer it to the memory card, then put the card back in your phone and save it to your phone so you can use it as your ringtone.
3. Visit the MetroPCS website where you can view the price of downloads and a list of the downloads currently available. In addition to ringtone downloads, pictures for wallpaper ad sharing, games and information are also available to download with your MetroPCS service.
4. Call customer service. Customer service can't order the download to your phone for you, but they can answer any questions you have or solve any problems you may be experiencing. Don't be afraid to ask for help; that's why they are there.
5. Go to a retailer. Same as with customer service, they can't download the ringtone for you, but they can walk you through the process on your phone, help you get a phone capable of @metro downloading, or trouble-shoot other problems you may be experiencing. You can also load money into your express pay MetroConnect account, which will allow you to pay for the ringtone when you download it.
