How to Send an SMS to Twitter
Computer Activation
1. Sign into Twitter's website with your Twitter user name and password.
2. Scroll to the top of your Twitter page and click the link entitled 'Settings.'
3. Scroll down to the middle of the page and click on the link entitled 'Mobile.'
4. Select your country/region from the menu. Enter your mobile phone number. Verify your phone by selecting the link entitled 'Start.'
5. Send an SMS with your mobile phone to 40404, Twitter's U.S. number, with the text 'Go.' You should receive a reply indicating that Twitter activated your device. After receiving this SMS from 40404, you can tweet through SMS. To do this, send an SMS to 40404. Tweets need to be 140 characters or less.

6. Grab your mobile phone and send an SMS to 40404, Twitter's U.S. number, with the message 'Start.' You should receive a reply from 40404 within a few seconds.
7. Respond to 40404 with your Twitter user name. You should receive a response from 40404.
8. Respond to 40404 with your Twitter password. You should receive a response from 40404.
9. Respond to 40404 with the message 'Hello.' You should receive a response from 40404 welcoming you to Twitter. You can now tweet by sending an SMS to 40404, Twitter's U.S. phone number. Tweets need to be less than 140 characters.
