How to Run a Home Phone With a Computer Through a 56K Modem for Free

1. Visit the Skype website (see Resources). Click the 'Get Skype' button to download the free VoIP telephone service software.
2. Click 'Join' at the top of the Skype website to create an account. Enter your personal information, choose a password, and select a Skype name for Internet phone service. Other Skype users will use this name to call you for free.
3. Plug a headset, or speakers and microphone into your computer. These will act as your home phone. Turn up the speaker volume to hear through either.
