How to Send an International SMS From a Cell Phone
1. Go to your cell phone's main menu and select the 'Message' or 'Text Message' icon. If using a touchscreen cell phone, you can just touch the icon. If not, use the arrows to move to the icon and click 'Enter' to open it. The terminology on your phone may differ from model to model but it will generally follow the same steps.
2. Click or tap 'Create Text Message.' Enter the phone number you want to send the message to or select it from your contacts list. In order to send an international text message you must include the 1 to 2-digit country code in front of the number .
3. Compose your message and click 'Send.' Check your sent box to confirm that the message was sent. It may take a few minutes to be received. If the message is returned to you with a note saying it could not be delivered, it is possible that your cell phone service provider has disabled international texting services. Contact the service provider and ask the representative to enable this feature on your cell phone. Be aware that sending SMS text messages to an international number can result in an extra charge that's determined by your service provider.
