How to Send an SMS With Google Mail
1. Locate the recipient's mobile service provider using the mobile look-up tool on Fone Finder (see Resources). Enter the phone number, and click 'Search by Number.' The provider is listed under the 'Telephone Company' field.
2. Locate the recipient's mobile gateway using the list on Email-Unlimited (see Resources). The mobile gateway is similar to the domain in an email address. The mobile gateway is different for each mobile service provider.
3. Access the Gmail website, and log in using your user name and password.
4. Click 'Compose Mail' on the left side of the screen.
5. Enter the recipient's mobile email address in the 'To' field. The mobile address is the recipient's mobile phone number (at) the mobile gateway. For example, a Sprint customer's mobile email address would be 1234567890@messaging.sprintpcs.com.
6. Enter a subject for the text message in the appropriate field.
7. Enter the text for the SMS message in the body of the email. Limit the message to 160 characters, or it may be truncated.
8. Click 'Send' to deliver the message to the recipient.
