How to Send an SMS From the PSP
1. Turn on your PSP.
2. Press the 'Home' button to the lower left of the screen to get to the main menu. If you already are connected to the Internet, skip to Step 7.
3. Open 'Settings' and then 'Network Settings.' Select 'Infrastructure Mode.' Choose 'New Connection.' Enter a name for the connection.
4. Select 'Scan' and wait for your PSP to find a network. Select the one you want and press 'X.'
5. Select the security setting you want, and then select 'Easy' on the Address Settings page. Continue after you get to the confirmation page, and press 'X' to save the settings.
6. Select 'Test Connection' to see if you have successfully established a connection to the Internet. If the test fails, try moving closer to the Wi-Fi access point and retrying the test. Otherwise, you may have to find a different connection.
7. If it works, press the 'Home' button again and then use the directional pad to go to the 'Internet Browser' icon.
8. Visit the Free SMS Messages site (see Resources) for a listing of addresses to send text messages to, depending on the carrier. For example, if the person you want to send the SMS message to is on Verizon, you need to send the message to 5551029320@vtext.com, and 5551029320@txt.att.net if the person uses AT&T. Replace 5551029320 in the address with the person's number.
9. Visit your email provider's home page and login. Compose a new message, and put the address you determined in the previous step in the 'To' box, and then press 'Send.' This should send a message directly to the person's phone.
10. Visit the txtDrop website (see Resources) if you want another way to do it. Enter your email address in the box provided, the recipient's phone number and your text message, and then press 'Send.'
