How to Use MP3 SMS Tones

1. Download a message tone. Websites that offer ring tones also often offer SMS tones or there are SMS tone options available at websites like Mobiles24 or Fehers (see Resources).
2. Send the SMS tone to the phone from a computer via a text or an email. Download it to the phone. Different phones will require different download methods, but usually clicking on the tone from the email or text is enough.
3. Apply the tone to text messages. It is either applied for all text messages or used for an individual text, depending on personal preferences. Applying the tone differs between phones, but many phones have SMS tone options under the phone texting settings or options. Otherwise, look under the phone menu options and look for text settings under the phone menu. The message options should have audio options, among which is the option to set SMS tones.
