How to Make Free Phone Calls on the Net

1. Research VoIP applications online to find the service that works best from you. Usually these services will incorporate a softphone interface for calling, with a chat platform that will allow you to communicate by text while you talk. You can also use a webcam with most services to see the party you are speaking with live. Most providers will allow you to use the service free of charge. 2. Sign up with the provider you prefer. Accomplish this by registering, establishing a user name and password for the service, and providing all required information to register. For some services, you may need to provide your complete name and address.
3. Download the softphone and chat software provided by the service provide and install it on your computer. Simply follow the instructions upon download to install the application.
4. Send an email to all parties you want to talk with, providing a link to the service provider so they can register and download the require software. Once they register, have those parties reply to your email with their user IDs.
5. Hook up your webcam and headset with microphone to use with your service. You will need to refer to the user's guide for your VoIP provider to learn how to optimize both pieces of equipment with their service.
6. Log into you VoIP software application with your username and password and review your user's guide to learn how to send a request to add users to your contact list. Follow those instructions and send a request to the users you want to add. Once the user confirms your request, they will appear on your contact list.
7. Select a user in your contact list and right-click for options. You will see a menu allowing you to send a message to chat or to place a call.
