How to Send a Free SMS Message to a Mobile Device
Txt2day.com
1. Access Txt2day.com and enter receiver phone number without dashes. Provide an optional email address in the return email field.
2. Select receiver's mobile service provider. If you do not know the provider, click the Look It Up feature and enter the first six digits of the receiver's cell phone number.
3. Enter a 140-character message in the message field. Click 'Send It.'
Yahoo! Mail
4. Sign in to Yahoo! Mail. There is no charge to set up an account if you do not have one.
5. Click the New menu option. Select Text Message (SMS) from the drop-down menu.
6. Enter the mobile number or contact name in contact field. Type your 140-character message in the message field and left-click the 'Send' button.
Google Gmail
7. Access your Gmail account. If you do not have a Gmail account, sign up for a free account.
8. Select 'Settings.' Click 'Labs.'
9. Navigate to the Text Messaging (SMS) in the 'Chat' option. Enable the feature and left-click 'Save Changes.'
Outlook Email
10. Open your Outlook email. Type the 10-digit number without dashes and the domain in the 'To' field. For example, AT&T addresses look like: 1111111111 @txt.att.net.
11. Enter a subject in the 'Subject' field.
12. Type the message and select 'Send.'
