How to Send Text From Computer to Mobile Device
Sending Through the Recipient's Carrier
1. Find out which cell phone provider the recipient of your text message uses. Any website you use to send your text message will require this information. You will also need to know the phone number of the recipient.
2. Visit the website of your friend's mobile phone carrier. Some carriers, such as Sprint Nextel and Verizon Wireless, allow you to send text messages to their users through their websites. Others, such as AT&T, don't. If the mobile phone carrier is Sprint or Nextel, scroll to the bottom of the site and click on either 'Send Text' or 'Send a Text Message.' You may be required to set up an account with the site. If so, follow the on-screen instructions on how to do that.
3. Enter the 10-digit cell phone number of the recipient in the 'Send To' box, enter your name in the 'From' box, and your cell phone number in the 'Callback Number' box. Enter your text message in the 'Your Message' box and then click 'Send.' Your text message should arrive on the recipient's phone in a matter of seconds.
Sending Through a Third-Party Website
4. Visit websites that allow you to send text messages to cell phones for free, such as OnlineTextMessage.com, SMSEverywhere.com or TextEm.net.
5. Enter the 10-digit phone number of the recipient in the 'Mobile Number' box, enter your email address (if required), and select the carrier of the recipient's cell phone.
6. Type your text message in the 'Message' box and then click 'Send Message.' Your text message should arrive on the recipient's phone in a matter of seconds.
