How to Access Free Long

1. Buy a magicJack plug that combines with your computer to allow you to access free local and long-distance call services. With magicJack, you can have monthly unlimited phone service in addition to free voice mail and free directory assistance. MagicJack uses the VOIP technology and the hardware is a simple, small plug that you insert into your USB port on your computer. In the other end of the plug, you will insert your home phone cord.
2. Register with Vonage Communications, which also uses VOIP. Vonage offers an annual pre-pay service and a monthly service. It also provides readable voice mail, free local and long-distance call plans, caller ID and international call blocks. Vonage manufactures a phone adapter that is unique to Vonage. This adapter plugs directly into your home phone and your computer and it uses your Internet to activate and use the service.
3. Use your Internet service to call locally and internationally with Skype at no charge. Skype is free as long as you have an Internet service. You will use a microphone connected to your computer to speak to an individual. You can also use a webcam to actually see the person that you're speaking to with Skype.
4. Sign up for a digital voice modem service, which is a phone service that you receive in your home through a modem. For example, you will use your normal home phone hardware or telephone, but you would plug your home phone into a modem supplied by the digital voice service. Comcast is one provider that markets this service through Xfinity Voice and they offer free local and long-distance calls based on the package that is chosen.
