How to Troubleshoot Connecting a Bluetooth Phone to a Toyota Sienna Van
1. Check that your phone is compatible with Toyota's Bluetooth system. Refer to the Toyota Bluetooth link (see Resources) to select your model year, cell carrier and device to ensure compatibility. Some Bluetooth phones may not be compatible or may only be partially compatible, meaning some features may not be available.
2. Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your cell phone. As every phone is different, refer to your phone's users manual for specific instructions on how to do so. Generally, you will need to go to the Settings menu, select 'Bluetooth,' and enable Bluetooth or make your phone discoverable.
3. Wait for the audible beep after pressing the Talk button on the steering wheel before giving a verbal command. The beep lets you know that the system is ready to hear your command. Speaking directly after pressing the Talk button will cause your command to be heard incorrectly.
4. Speak loudly and clearly when giving verbal commands. You want to ensure that the system properly registers your command without confusion.
5. Enter the correct passkey on your phone. During the pairing process, the Handsfree display will show a passkey that you will need to enter on your phone to confirm the pairing process.
