How to Send an SMS From Ubuntu
Send SMS using Firefox
1. Click the 'Firefox' icon on the top taskbar in the Ubuntu desktop.
2. Navigate to one of the free SMS websites.
3. Type the recipient's address in the 'To:' field. The recipient's phone number, combined with the cellular provider's messaging address, composes the recipient's SMS address.
4. Select the recipient's cellular provider from the dropdown box.
5. Type a message into the 'Message' input box.
6. Answer the 'Anti-Spam' or 'Captcha' question by entering the required characters.
7. Click the 'Send' button. The SMS message is sent to the recipient.
Send SMS using Evolution
8. Open the Evolution email program by clicking on the 'Envelope' icon in the top taskbar in the Ubuntu desktop.
9. Type the recipient's phone number, followed by the '@' sign and the messaging address for his cellular provider, in the 'To:' field. For example, if the recipient is a Sprint PCS customer, the recipient's messaging address would be something like: '5129293334@messaging.sprintpcs.com.'
10. Type the message into the 'Message' input area.
11. Click 'Send.'
