Why Does My LG Ally Phone Keep Saying My Phone Storage Is Low?
Definition
The pop-up message stating that the phone storage is low refers to the LG Ally's internal memory. Though the phone has 102 megabytes of internal phone memory, applications, messages and browser memory can use a lot of that storage. Your phone may slow down when the memory is close to full, and you often can't receive text messages until you clear some space. Though you may have an SD card installed in the LG Ally to increase your phone's memory, you can't use it for most of the files causing the low phone storage issue.
Solutions
Removing applications from the LG Ally is one of the better methods for clearing memory on the phone. You can remove applications from the phone by opening the Android Market, accessing the 'Downloads' list in the Android Market menu, and selecting the 'Uninstall' option. Clearing your text messages and the browser memory can also free up space on the LG Ally. When deleting the browser memory, make sure you delete the cache, history and cookies.
Deleting All Data
The quickest method of deleting all of the data from your phone is to perform a factory data reset. All of your settings and personal information are also removed from the phone when you perform a factory data reset, leaving the phone as it was when you first took it out of the box. The factory data reset only deletes the information stored in your phone's internal memory, and not the data stored on an installed SD card. To perform a factory data reset, open the 'Privacy' option in the phone's settings and select 'Factory Data Reset.' Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset. You're prompted to enter all of your account information when the phone turns on again.
Prevention
Preventing the low phone storage message from appearing on your LG Ally requires observation of your phone's current memory status before installing applications on the phone. You can check the phone's remaining storage space by opening the phone's 'Settings' menu and selecting 'SD Card & Phone Storage.' Before installing a new application on the phone, check the size of the application in the Android Market. If the application is large, consider removing other applications before installing the new one. Regularly delete your text messages and browser memory to open space on the phone.
