How to Hide Incoming SMS Text Messages on the Apple iPhone

1. Touch the 'Settings' icon with your finger.
2. Scroll down until you see the 'Sounds' icon. Open with your finger.
3. Scroll down to 'New Text Message' and open with your finger. A screen will load with sound alerts. Click on 'None,' which is listed first. A check mark will appear. This will enable a sound alerting you to a text message. Touch the word 'Sounds' at the top of the screen to go back to the Sounds menu.
4. Touch the word 'Settings' at the top of the screen. The settings page will load again. Scroll down to 'Messages' and open it.
5. Slide the 'Show Preview,' 'Repeat Alert' and 'Show Subject Field' to the 'Off' postions. This will hide the actual text message and subject of the text from appearing on your screen.
6. Touch the word 'Settings' at the top of the screen. It will take you back to the settings menu. Press the 'Menu Screen' button at the bottom middle of the phone to go back to your iPhone application screen.
