How to Install a Hands

1. Buy a Bluetooth-enabled cellular phone. All phones now sold have this capability, which allows them to communicate wirelessly with speakers and microphones.
2. Purchase a speakerphone. These are small units that include a speaker and a microphone; most of them clip to the inside of your sun visor or to the dashboard. Some of these devices are solar-powered while others connect to your truck's dashboard power outlet. It is even possible to buy models with built-in radio transmitters that allow you to use your stereo speakers to hear your callers.
3. Clip your speakerphone in place and connect it to its power supply. Turn it on.
4. Turn on your phone's Bluetooth functionality. This generally involves navigating to your phone's setup menu, then selecting 'Bluetooth' and turning it on. After a few moments, the phone will detect any Bluetooth devices in the area. Select your antenna; it will generally identify itself by name on your phone's screen. You need to do this only once; the next time you bring your phone into your truck, the speakerphone will automatically connect to it.
5. Make calls by dialing the number into your phone and hitting 'Send.' You will hear the call over the speakerphone's speakers and you can pick up incoming calls by pressing the 'Call' button on the speakerphone. Most cellular phones also support voice dialing. Consult your speakerphone and cell phone manual for exact instructions to set this up. Once configured, this will allow you to speak the name of a contact on your phone's contact list into the speakerphone's microphone and have that number dialed.
6. Set up your radio to carry the sound from your speakerphone. If your speakerphone has an FM transmitter, you will be able to choose a frequency for it to broadcast on. Turn on your car stereo, set it to FM and tune it to that frequency. When you make a call, you will hear it over your speakers; the speakerphone microphone will still be used to pick up your voice.
