How to Block Toll
1. Navigate to the National Do-Not-Call list website, select the 'Register Now' tab, submit the details as instructed and finish by clicking 'Register.' Retrieve your verification email and click on the confirmation link. There is a limit of three phone numbers per person that can be registered. If you receive calls after 31 days of registration, you can file a complaint against the company. Alternatively, if you do not have Internet access, call 888-382-1222 from the number that you wish to register and follow the automated prompts.
2. Call your state's consumer protection office or public utilities commission to see if the state has such a list (see resources). Register through the state website or specific phone number with your state's do-not-call list program to block unwanted phone calls.
3. Make a direct statement to the telemarketer when it calls your home clarifying you do not want anymore calls. The company must maintain you on its do-not-call list for five years. Nonprofits, however, are not required to keep lists like this.
