How To Transfer SMS Messages From One SIM Card to Another

1. Install the driver software. Most SIM card readers you purchase come with an installation CD that walks you through the steps.
2. Shut down both cell phones.
3. Pick up the phone with the messages you want to transfer. Remove the back plate, and remove the cell phone's battery.
4. Find the SIM card slot, and slide open the tiny metal door holding the card in place.
5. Remove the SIM card and place it into the back slot of the SIM reader.
6. Place the reader into a free USB port and wait for the computer to recognize the hardware. If the program does not automatically open, manually open it by navigating through the Windows icon on the lower left side of the monitor's screen.
7. Copy the SMS messages off of the SIM card, using the reader's software. Save these messages on your desktop, or in an appropriate folder that suits your needs.
8. Move your pointer to the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon on the lower right side of your screen. Click the icon and select the SIM reader. Wait for the pop up window informing you that it is safe to remove the reader, and then physically remove the reader from the USB port.
9. Remove the SIM card from the reader, and then place the SIM card back into its phone. Replace the battery and back plate on that phone.
10. Remove the SIM card from the phone you wish to transfer the SMS message to. This will be the same process used on the first phone.
11. Place the new SIM card into the reader and insert the reader into the computer's USB port.
12. Copy the SMS messages off of the desktop or folder you saved them to and save them to the new SIM card.
13. Close the reader program and safely remove the SIM reader from the USB port.
14. Remove the SIM card from the reader, place it back into the phone. Replace the battery and the back plate.
15. Power the second phone on and navigate to the SMS messages folder. You will see the transferred messages there.
