How to Send an SMS to an Airtel Phone

Cell Phone to Cell Phone SMS
1. Access your phone's messaging menu. On most phones, it is usually titled 'New Message' or 'Create New Message' and can usually be found on the phone's main menu. In some cases, you can also access these options from your 'Contacts' list.
2. Enter the phone number (1+ the area code) of the Airtel phone you to which you want to send the SMS. Or select a contact from your Contacts list.
3. Use your phone's numeric pad or QWERTY keyboard to enter the message you want to send. You can also add a file to the SMS by selecting 'Attachment' or 'MMS' (Multimedia Messaging Service).
4. Select 'Send/Send Message.'
Computer to Phone SMS
5. Open your Web browser and go to a site that allows you to send free SMS from your computer. Some commonly used sites are text4free.net, mobile-sender.com and onlinetextmessage.com. Some websites such as text4free.net don't require you sign up. However, signing up for a free membership enables additional features such as the ability to keep track of previously sent SMS. If the website requires you to sign up, enter the requested information (such as your username, password and email address).
6. Scroll down to the 'Send SMS' section (or click the button with the same name). Enter the area code and number (no dashes) of the cell phone you want to send the SMS to. Select 'Airtel' as the carrier. Enter the content of the text message into the message box and make note of the character limit--some websites limit text to 140 characters. Some websites also allow you to attach a file to the SMS.
7. Accept the user agreement or terms of use (if any). Enter the text from the verification image and click the 'Submit/Send Message' button.
