How to Send a Free Web Text
1. Open your email client. You can use either a dedicated desktop email client (such as Outlook) or a web-based service.
2. Compose a new email. In the 'To:' address bar, type the 10-digit phone number you wish to send a text to, followed by the appropriate carrier email text code. For instance, if you want to text a person on the Verizon network with the phone number 555-123-4567, enter '5551234567@vtext.net' into the 'To:' field. See Resources for a full list of carrier email text codes.
3. Enter text in the body of the email. Text messages are compact communications, usually limited to 160 characters. Stay under the 160-character limit to prevent your message from getting cut off.
4. Send the email. Your communication will be sent as a text message to the phone number entered. If they reply, you will receive a email in your inbox. To continue texting back and forth, simply reply to the received email.
