How to SMS Text Yourself From Gmail
Enabling SMS
1. Open your browser and log in to Gmail.
2. Click the gear icon at the top-right of the Gmail window and select 'Mail settings.'
3. Click the 'Labs' tab.
4. Click 'Enable' next to the 'SMS (text messaging) in Chat' feature.
5. Click 'Save Changes' to enable SMS.
Sending SMS
6. Type your mobile number into the 'Chat' search box.
7. Click 'Send SMS' in the pop-out menu, which appears as you type the number.
8. Enter the contact details into the pop-up window. Click 'Save' to save your number and open the chat window.
9. Type your short text message. You are limited to 140 characters before the message is automatically split into multiple messages. The number of characters remaining is displayed on the bottom of the chat window, whenever you get close the maximum.
