How to Send Text Messages From Linux to a Cell Phone
1. Compose a new email message, either with a desktop email client or your service provider's website.
2. Address the message to the recipient's cell phone's email address. This consists of the 10-digital phone number followed by the '@' symbol, followed by the email code of the cell provider, which you can find in Resource. For example, to text someone who uses Verizon with the phone number (123) 555-1234, you would address the email to '1235551234@vtext.com.'
3. Type your message. Most carriers restrict each text to 160 characters, and some break apart longer texts into multiple texts. Press 'Send.'
