How to Send an SMS Over the Net

1. Select an online SMS program. There are several that do not require a sign up or download. Some of the popular sites are Onlinetextmessage.com and Mobile-sender.com (see References).
2. Navigate to the website you've selected. View the SMS interface to become comfortable with it. Enter your recipient's area code and telephone number, and then enter your message. Note the character count on the side. The SMS sites usually have a limit of about 140 characters per message.
3. Select the person's cellular-phone carrier if required. Most services need this information. Enter your telephone number or email address. Click 'Send' or 'Send Message' to send your SMS online.
