How to Send SMS With an MTN Phone

1. Select the 'Menu' option on your phone and navigate to 'Messages.'
2. Scroll until you find the option 'Create Message' and select that option. The actual option heading may vary from phone to phone; however, the option will represent composing a message.
3. Type your message using the keypad on your phone, up to 160 characters.
4. Select the 'Options' menu, scroll down to 'Send,' and select that option.
5. Type the telephone number of the person your want to send your SMS and select 'Ok' to send your message. There is no subscription charge to have SMS service; however, for each message you send to another phone in South Africa will result in a charge of R0,86 per message including VAT.
