How to Send Free Text Messages to the United States of America
Method 1
1. Log into your email account.
2. Address the 'To' section to your email to your friend or family member's 10 digit phone number, followed by their carrier's e-mail address. For instance, if your friend or family member uses AT&T, you should address your e-mail to 5551112222@txt.att.net. For a list of network carriers' SMS gateway e-mail addresses, see the link in the 'Resources' section.
3. Fill out the body of your e-mail as you normally would. Keep in mind however, that each text message cannot exceed 160 characters in length. If it does exceed 160 characters, it may be broken up into several smaller text messages, potentially costing the recipient more money (depending on their SMS plan).
4. Send the e-mail as you normally would, and your text message will be on its way.
Method 2
5. Log onto a free SMS gateway site such as txt2day.com, sendsmsnow.com or smseverywhere.com (see links in 'Resources').
6. Choose the destination country (USA), if necessary.
7. Enter your friend or family member's phone number, and then select their carrier.
8. Fill out your text message in the main box that says 'Message' or 'Enter Text Message.'
9. Agree to the terms of service, if necessary, and click 'Send.' Your text message should be sent to your recipient.
