How to Transfer Music to My Phone for Free

1. Plug the USB end of the data cable into the USB port on the computer. Plug the other end---the end intended for cell phones---into the cell phone, making sure it is turned on.
2. Watch the laptop for any activity. The computer should signal that it recognizes the device. If working on a PC, an icon will appear on the bottom left-hand corner denoting the plugged-in cell phone. On a Mac, the icon will appear on the desktop.
3. Click on the icon to open up the cell phone's memory drive. Open the file folder called 'My Music' or 'Music.'
4. Find the music on your computer. Drag and drop the MP3 files from your computer to the music folder. You should be notified once the files are loaded onto the computer.
