How to Send a Free SMS to a Landline

1. Navigate your web browser to a free SMS sending website. MobileSender.com, Text4Free.net or SendSMSnow.com allow individuals to sent SMS messages without charge. If you have a text message package with your cell phone company, you will be able to send an allotted amount of SMS messages without being charged per message.
2. Type in the landline phone number into the designated space on the free SMS sending website, or create a new SMS message on your cell phone.
3. Type a message into the text field on the website or on your cell phone. Take note, text messages are limited to the number of characters that can be used in a single message. The typical maximum number of characters is 140 per message.
4. Press the send button on the website or on the cell phone. When the message is sent, the landline will ring. When answered, the SMS message will be read aloud to the receiver through an automatic text-to-voice service. If the receiver does not answer, the SMS message will be recorded on their voicemail, if available.
