How to Benefit from the Government's Free Cell Phone Program

1. You must apply to benefit: You can apply for the cell phone, if you are receiving Food Stamps, Aid to Dependent Children, Disability or if your family income falls below the national average. Also, displaced families and those living in areas of natural disasters are eligible.
2. Use the phone to handle your affairs: Use the phone to look for employment and schedule appointments. Displaced and elderly people, can keep in touch with family members. Women of abuse, can use the phone to call the domestic abuse hot line offered by the phone service provider.
3. You receive a free phone: You can purchase more phone time, when the allotted minutes run out. The program is renewed year to year if necessary. If you no longer need the program, you will get to keep the phone.
4. The process has been made easy: One great benefit of the government program, is that those desiring to participate, do not have to go downtown to fill out an application. An application can be submitted on line or over the telephone.
