How to Send Receive an SMS From a Computer

Send and Receive SMS via Joopz or Send SMS Now
1. Go to Joopz.com or SendSMSNow.com. Both websites offer free SMS services. Sign up and/or register. Choose a user name and password, and provide your cell phone number and other required details.
2. Type a message in the message box after you log in to your new account.
3. Type the recipient’s cell phone number in the respective field.
4. Specify whether you want to send the message right away or sometime later (you will have to provide time and date).
5. Click “Send the Message.” The person you texted will receive the message on his or her cell phone. You will receive replies in your Joopz or Send SMS Now inbox.
Send and Receive SMS via ICQ
6. Log on to your ICQ account. If you don’t have ICQ, download and install it from the link in Resources below. When signing up, you will be required to make an ICQ user name and password. After making the account, log in.
7. Add a friend in the “Non ICQ Contacts” group in the “Contact List.” You will have to provide the person’s cell phone number.
8. Double-click the friend’s name. A message window will now pop open.
9. Write your message, and click “Send.” You will receive the recipient’s reply in the IM chat window.
Sending SMS With Your Email Account
10. Sign into your email account. Most major cell phone carriers allow text messaging from computers to cell phones, and each has its own text address.
11. In the 'To' field, type the recipient's 10-digit cell phone number followed by his or her cell phone carrier's code. So, for example, if your recipient uses AT&T, and his number is 555-777-9999, you would type 5557779999@text.att.net. See Resources for a list of most major cell carriers' codes.
12. If the recipient replies, you will receive that reply in your email account's inbox.
