How to Activate MetroPCS Phones


1. Make sure that MetroPCS offers service in your area. Unlike nationwide providers (Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile), MetroPCS is a regional wireless carrier offered in select U.S. cities. Visit the MetroPCS company website and look at coverage maps to determine if MetroPCS is available in your calling area.
2. Look for MetroPCS branding on the wireless phone. If the wireless phone is branded by another provider, it may have been flashed for use on the MetroPCS network. In order to determine if a non-MetroPCS branded phone is eligible for use with MetroPCS, dial 611 and listen for the MetroPCS prompts. If you hear the 'MetroPCS; hello, hello, hello' greeting, the phone is already on that network and is ready to activate.
3. Visit MetroPCS' company website, www.metropcs.com. The website has an extensive listing of all company stores and independent retailers that will be able to activate the wireless phone. MetroPCS company stores and independent retailers are generally abundant in cities where their service is provided.
4. Visit a MetroPCS store and choose your calling plan. Before activating your phone, the MetroPCS representative will explain the various features and options you have to choose from. Ask any necessary questions to guarantee that you receive the best service for your money, and make note of coverage maps to verify that all of the areas you visit frequently are covered.
5. Now that your phone is activated, you can enjoy the freedom of unlimited wireless calling. Say goodbye to overages because there are no minutes to count and no data service usage to worry about.
