How to Send an SMS to Israel

From Computer to Cell Phone
1. Download an SMS service to your computer (see Resources).
2. Add the recipient's email or cell phone number to the list of contacts to request permission to send SMS messages. Select 'Israel' as the recipient's country. The SMS program will automatically configure the cell phone number to the Israeli area code. After the recipient has confirmed you as a contact, you can send SMS messages.
3. Choose the recipient's name from the list of contacts and type in the text message. Click 'Send.' The recipient will receive the text message on his cell phone.

4. Add the recipient's email or cell phone number to the list of cellphone contacts. Cell phone numbers in Israel begin with '972' and you then drop the first digit, the '0,' of an Israeli cell phone number.
5. Click on the recipient's name to access his cell phone number.
6. Type in the text message and click 'Send.' The message will be sent to the recipient's cell phone.

7. Download the desired SMS program into your computer. Click 'Contacts.'
8. Enter the recipient's email address into the list of contacts.
9. Type the SMS message into the message field and click 'Send' after the recipient has confirmed you as a contact (Gmail does not require contact confirmation--only that the sender has received, at least once, an email from the contact.)
