How to Make Calls to Cell Phones Online

1. Choose a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) service that will allow you to make calls over the Internet. There are several to consider, including Skype, MediaRingTalk, and Jaxtr. While these services are free, each has its advantages and disadvantages.
2. Try Skype. This is one of the most popular VOIP software programs, with over 400 million users worldwide. Although calling cell phones and landlines isn't free, as of 2010 you could make international calls for only 2.5 cents per minute. You can make free calls to other PC users who have Skype installed. Skype allows you to do video conferencing, and the program can also be installed on your mobile phone.
3. MediaRingTalk is another software application that installs on your PC. The main difference from Skype is that PC calls are free to both landlines and mobile phones if the calls are to the U.S., Australia, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Taiwan, the U.K. or Canada. Calls from PC to PC are free anywhere in the world for MediaRingTalk users. In exchange, you will have to view some advertising on the application's screen.
4. Jaxtr is a free program that gives you the advantages of making phone calls online using VOIP without the need to connect to a computer or download software. Jaxtr works by using your home or mobile phone to place a call to a local Jaxtr number in any of 50 countries. Next, you input the number you wish to call. The Jaxtr servers will connect you for free. So, you are still making a call online but without the inconvenience of having to download, install and log in to a software application.
