How to Send Email to Text Messages on the Phone

1. Sign into your email account and compose a new email to be sent as a text message.
2. Type the phone number of the person you will be sending the message to in the address box field. Type the whole number with the area code or the extension. Do not put any dashes or spaces in between the numbers. For example, type 3465550100 and not 346-555-0100.
3. Add the extension of the phone service the recipient is subscribed to. For example, the extension for Verizon Wireless is '@vtext.com' and the extension for AT&T is '@txt.att.net.' The address to send the email should appear as 3465550100@vtext.com or 3465550100@txt.att.net. You can find extensions for phone services other than Verizon and AT&T by searching online or contacting the service provider directly.
4. Add your message to the email. You can either add the message on the subject line or in the message field. Most services limit the size of emails sent to phones as text messages to 160 characters. If the message is longer than 160 characters, it will be sent in the form of multiple messages.
5. Press 'Send' after you have finished typing your message. The message will be delivered as a text message to the recipient's phone and he or she can reply back. The replies will be displayed in your inbox as regular emails.
