How to: GPS for a Cell Number for Free


1. Get a Web-enabled cell phone. You can either choose to get a prepaid mobile phone or a standard one.Make sure that it has access to the Internet.
2. Choose a GPS service. A few that you can use include AmazeGPS, Mologogo and Instamapper. Any of these programs turns your cell phone into a GPS tracking device. As of 2010, they are free to download and use.
3. Register for the service that you wish to use. Provide a user ID and password, along with an email address and mobile phone number.
4. Confirm your registration by using the link that will be sent to you via text message. This takes you to a download page in your phone's Web browser. Download the application file to your phone and click on it. This will start the installation process. Wait for it to complete and restart the phone.
5. Turn on the GPS application by going to your phone's 'Main Menu' and selecting the program. Once you have done this your phone will begin sending its location to the Internet.
6. Log in to the website where you downloaded the application using either a computer or web-enabled device. A map appears on the screen with your user ID. You are also provided with the longitude and latitude of its location as well as the speed and direction of its movement.
