How to Send a Text SMS Message From Messenger

1. Open the Yahoo! Messenger program. Sign in with your existing Yahoo! ID and password.
2. Go to the top of the menu bar on your Yahoo! Messenger screen. Click on 'Actions.' Scroll down to about the middle of the options until you find 'Send SMS Message.' Click on this. As an alternative, use shortcut code 'Ctrl + T.'
3. Select 'Other Contact' from the small screen that appears if you want to type in the recipient's telephone number. Type the recipient's phone number in the long box that appears in a standard format. For example, type (408) 555-1234. Type in the country code for international calls. For example, type +91 98 222 49493. Click 'OK.'
4. Type your message in the smaller of the two boxes that open in a new window. Click 'Send.'
5. Click on 'My Contacts' if you do not know the recipient's phone number by memory to pull up your contact's information or to directly send a message to a person from your contacts' list.
6. Click 'Contacts' on the top of your menu if you neither have the recipient's phone number nor have added the person as a contact. Type in the recipient's email address or Messenger ID in the first box that appears. Click 'Next.' Type in a message in the section under the heading 'Enter a Brief Introduction' to deliver a message to the recipient along with your request to add the person to your Messenger List.
7. Click 'Next.' Your message has been sent and the person will be added to your contact list once he receives and approves his addition to your Messenger List. Click on 'My Contacts' and select the recipient to send a text SMS message to him.
